About 20% of the population has a disability that affects their everyday life.

These can range from mental disabilities that limit cognitive functions, physical disabilities that affect mobility or fine motor control, and social disabilities that make it difficult to engage and be a part of a community. There’s a good chance you know someone that has been affected by a disability of some sort.

The Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation has been serving Calgary’s disabled population with support services to help develop a person’s potential and quality of life.

We believe that self-sufficiency and growth within adults who experience a disAbility is achieved through community presence and active participation in gainful employment.

Since our start in 1989, we’ve grown to employ over 600 support staff to work with over 300 Calgarians with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spinal cord injuries, and more.

In 2013 we launched the Lifestyles Bistro as a way to create jobs for our clients. By serving healthy food in our comfortable restaurant setting, we’ve helped our customers give back to their community simply by choosing where they eat out. Come by for lunch or breakfast to see what we’re all about.

Now we want to help spread our mission to businesses across Calgary through Catered by Lifestyles. We’ll be serving up the same great, healthy food and delivering it anywhere in the city for a simple flat fee. At each step of the way, we’ll be creating opportunities for a multicultural range of individuals with a variety of disAbilities. We’ve created packaging, serving, bussing, and gardening jobs for our clients that might not have otherwise had the chance to support themselves.

We hope you’ll share our belief that good food can empower and bring people together.

If you or your organization wants to work together with us, we’re always looking for potential partners. Sponsorships, work placements, and collaborative projects all help us to create better lives for our clients. Get in touch with us and we can start making our community a better place to be for those in need of an extra hand.
